Kamal brings 25 years of experience spanning corporate leadership and entrepreneurship, with a track record of building and scaling ventures across digital P&C insurance, data analytics, and wealthtech. Before founding Openfin, he held senior positions at ICICI Lombard, one of India’s largest private insurers, where he developed deep expertise in distribution, product strategy, and operational scale.
As an entrepreneur, Kamal has successfully raised capital and built partnerships across three major markets—the United States, the GCC region, and India. That global fundraising experience gives him an unusual perspective on what investors in different ecosystems are actually looking for, and how founders can position themselves accordingly.
At Openfin, Kamal leads sourcing, distribution strategy, and fundraising efforts for portfolio companies. His approach is shaped by having sat on both sides of the table—as an operator who needed capital and as an investor who deploys it. He knows what it takes to build something from scratch, and he knows what breaks when founders scale too fast or too slow.
Kamal holds a B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur and an MBA from IIM Calcutta—consistently ranked among India’s top institutions in engineering and business respectively. But his real edge comes from the pattern recognition built across a decade of building his own companies.
